Eating disorders are complex mental health, medical, and nutritional disorders that often require specialists to assess, address, and treat the symptoms and underlying factors.  

Statistics about eating disorders:

• According to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD, n.d.), approximately 10,200 deaths occur each year as a direct result of eating disorders.
• ANAD (n.d.) reports that approximately 26% of individuals with eating disorders attempt suicide.
• The Eating Disorder Foundation (n.d.) notes that eating disorders—particularly anorexia nervosa—have the second-highest mortality rate among mental health disorders.
