By: Jennifer Rollin, LCSW-C, Therapist and Founder of The Eating Disorder Center If you're looking for free journal prompts for eating disorder recovery, you've come to the right place. As an eating disorder therapist, I created this free e-book to provide compassionate, evidence-informed prompts that can help you reflect, build self-awareness, and support your recovery journey. Journaling can be a great recovery tool alongside professional support. Whether you're recovering from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, or another form of disordered eating, taking time to explore your thoughts and emotions can help you better understand yourself and strengthen your recovery. While journaling isn't a replacement for therapy, many people find that it complements treatment by creating space to process difficult experiences and celebrate progress along the way. Inside this free eating disorder recovery workbook, you'll find dozens of thoughtful journal prompts designed to help you slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your values. The prompts are written with compassion and are intended to help you move away from self-criticism and toward greater self-acceptance. Some of the topics you'll explore include:
One of the beautiful things about journaling is that there are no perfect answers. Some days you may write several pages, while other days you may only answer one question. Both are valuable. Recovery isn't about getting everything “right,” it's about continuing to show up for yourself with curiosity, honesty, and compassion. I also encourage you to revisit these prompts over time. Reading your previous entries can help you recognize growth that may be difficult to notice day to day. Recovery often happens through many small steps, and journaling can help make that progress more visible. As a therapist specializing in eating disorders, I created these prompts based on themes that I feel are important to eating disorder recovery. My hope is that they help you gain insight into your relationship with food, your body, and yourself while encouraging a kinder inner dialogue. Whether you're just beginning recovery or have been on this journey for years, these prompts are designed to meet you where you are. Please remember that this resource is intended for educational and informational purposes only. It is not therapy, medical care, or individualized treatment. If you're struggling with an eating disorder, I encourage you to seek support from a specialized eating disorder therapist. You deserve compassionate, specialized therapy and you don't have to navigate recovery alone. If you're ready to begin, simply download your free copy using the link above. I hope these journal prompts for eating disorder recovery become a supportive resource that you return to whenever you need encouragement, reflection, or a gentle reminder that healing is possible. Every journal entry is an opportunity to better understand yourself, challenge the eating disorder's voice, and take another meaningful step toward recovery.
