My Approach
Each client will have an individualized experience in therapy based on their specific history, strengths, and challenges. I frequently draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and art therapy. I also practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) informed approach to treatment and believe that all eating disorder treatment should be HAES-aligned.
I find that I am able to build rapport with my clients and form connections, which allows them to trust me and follow me in guiding and empowering them through their recovery. I also utilize a strength based perspective to therapy, which I think is so important.
Eating disorders are often a symptom of a client being unable to cope with something else in their life. So, in my work with clients I address both the eating disorder thoughts & behaviors, as well as underlying relationship challenges, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, and other life stressors.
I personally overcame my own past struggle with disordered eating and body dysmorphia, which inspired my passion for helping others to heal. I am so grateful to be able to help people to find freedom from eating disorders.
