Do I need to have a diagnosis to start therapy?
No formal diagnosis is necessary to start therapy. If you're experiencing challenges with eating, body image, or related concerns, support is available. You don’t need to have a diagnosed eating disorder to benefit from treatment. If needed, we can provide an assessment to help determine whether you meet the criteria for an eating disorder or another mental health condition.
What types of therapy do you offer?
Our therapists often draw from a blend of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). For younger clients, we incorporate Family-Based Therapy (FBT) when it fits their needs. All team members practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned perspective and are well-versed in intuitive eating principles. Depending on the individual, some therapists may also utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as part of treatment.
Am I “sick enough” to have an eating disorder?
If you’re feeling consumed by thoughts about food or your weight, you absolutely deserve support. You don’t have to reach a specific threshold to seek help — your experiences are valid, and complete recovery is within reach.
What if I’m afraid to recover?
We know that beginning the recovery journey can feel overwhelming. Several members of our team have either personally experienced recovery or have supported close others through eating disorder challenges. Feeling afraid is completely natural — but you don’t have to face this alone. We're here to support you every step of the way.
