My Approach
Each client is an individual, so I tailor the treatment that I provide to each client. I frequently draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT).
My approach to working with eating disorders is also based on Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating, along with building skills in emotional tolerance, self-compassion, and authenticity. I believe it is extremely important to help clients to build an identity of their whole self, outside of their eating disorder.
I meet clients where they are while helping them to gradually challenge their eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. I use the therapeutic relationship to validate emotions and experiences while empowering clients to reach their recovery goals. Eating disorders are often coping strategies for underlying issues, so I also help clients to address these underlying issues which may include anxiety, depression, perfectionism, the impact of trauma, and relationship challenges.
I am also personally recovered from my own eating disorder, which inspired my passion to help others to find freedom from eating disorders. Full recovery is possible.
*I am taking on a limited number of new therapy clients. If spots are full, I am happy to refer you to another clinician.
*In addition to providing virtual therapy throughout the state of Maryland, I am also licensed to provide virtual therapy in Florida and Pennsylvania.

“Kate provides clients with a safe space to be open and authentic. She takes extra care in meeting each individual where they are, and you can expect to be treated with compassion while receiving targeted interventions to navigate even the most difficult work. If there is one person who I would want to be my guide as I dig deep, it would be Kate.”
