|
Olivia Kline, LGPC is an eating disorder therapist in Rockville, Maryland who works with children (age 3+), teens, and adults struggling with eating disorders. Olivia works with clients struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). She is passionate about helping clients build a more peaceful and trusting relationship with food and their bodies. Olivia also works with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and family dynamic challenges. She provides therapy out of our office in Rockville, Maryland, and as well as virtually throughout Maryland.
Olivia has experience working with children (ages 3+), teens, and adults in both community and private practice settings. She previously worked at a private therapy practice with children, teens and adults. She also conducted research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she studied the relationship between brain development, genetics, and behavior. Olivia also has experience providing therapy through a community counseling center and continues to integrate research-informed practices into her clinical work. Olivia has experience utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). For children, Olivia is trained in play therapy and is working towards her registered play therapist (RPT) certificate. She integrates these evidence-based approaches, along with elements of somatic and person-centered work, to support clients in managing emotions, building coping skills, and moving toward recovery. Olivia approaches therapy with warmth, safety, creativity, and collaboration at the core of her work. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely supported throughout their therapeutic journey. |
My Approach as an Eating Disorder Therapist
I take an individualized and compassionate approach to eating disorder treatment, meeting each client where they are in their recovery. As an eating disorder therapist in Maryland, I draw from person-centered, DBT, and ACT to help clients build skills for managing difficult emotions, tolerating distress, and reducing eating disorder behaviors, while also helping them reconnect with their values and sense of self.
I work from a Health at Every Size® (HAES)-aligned and weight-inclusive perspective, supporting clients in healing their relationship with food and body. I believe that this approach is crucial when it comes to eating disorder treatment, as well as therapy more generally.
With children, I am rooted in child-centered play therapy techniques to help them express emotions, build coping skills, and navigate challenges in a developmentally appropriate way. I also collaborate closely with parents to support progress outside of sessions.
With teens and adults, I focus on building practical tools as well as working through underlying issues that contribute to the eating disorder. I help clients to move toward full recovery and a more meaningful, flexible life. I approach this work through a trauma-informed and multicultural lens and strive to create a space that is affirming of all identities and experiences.
I believe that full recovery is possible, and I feel honored to support clients in building a life that feels freer and more aligned with who they are.
*I am taking on a limited number of new therapy clients. If spots are full, I am happy to refer you to another clinician who specializes in eating disorders or put you on a wait-list.
