Is a diagnosis required to start sessions?
No, you don’t need a diagnosis. If you’re struggling with your relationship with food or body image, we’re here to support you. You don’t need an eating disorder to seek therapy with us. If necessary, we can also conduct assessments and provide a diagnosis if applicable.
What therapy methods do you employ?
Our therapists commonly utilize a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). When appropriate, we also offer Family-Based Therapy (FBT-informed) for younger clients. Our team is well-versed in the health at every size (HAES) philosophy and intuitive eating principles. Additionally, some therapists may incorporate Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) techniques.
What if I feel uncertain about recovery?
We get it - recovery can be a scary process to start. We’ve also been there - most of our team has either personally recovered from an eating disorder or has helped a loved one through recovery. It is okay to be scared to recover and to also reach out for help. You don’t have to do this alone.
Am I “sick enough” to have an eating disorder?
If you find yourself fixated on food and weight, know that you are indeed “sick enough” and completely entitled to seek help and support.
