Rachel Steinhardt, LMHC, is an eating disorder therapist in Brooklyn, New York, who specializes in working with adolescents and adults with eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder, as well as trauma, depression, and anxiety.
 
Rachel previously worked in a variety of settings before joining The Eating Disorder Center, including at a residential eating disorder treatment center (Alsana), an outpatient mental health clinics, group practice, an inpatient facility, and a larger eating disorder treatment company.
 
Rachel believes that there is no ‘one size fits all’ to treatment and tailors it to each person. However, she has completed trainings in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Additionally, she has completed trainings in the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. 
 
Rachel practices from a Health at Every Size informed approach to eating disorder treatment, as she believes that this approach is crucial when working with clients.

My Approach

I have always had a passion for helping others to accept and value their bodies and understanding their worth as individuals. I have dedicated my career to treating clients with eating disorders and helping them to reach full recovery. This work is my passion and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic Therapy are my focus, however I tailor treatment to each individual client. I love integrating the intuitive eating approach and health at every size. Eating disorder behaviors are often a way that someone is coping with underlying issues, therefore I also work with occurring issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, and relationship concerns.

My therapeutic style is warm, genuine and compassionate. However, I am also firm when it comes to helping clients to challenge their eating disorder thoughts and behaviors. 

I am extremely passionate about helping people to recover. I empower clients by providing them with the insight, tools, and techniques, to attain their goals, reach full recovery and live the life they want. 

I provide eating disorder therapy in Brooklyn, NY and virtually throughout New York and Florida.
