The holiday season can be a stressful time for someone in recovery from an eating disorder. I have outlined three challenges that I see clients struggling with during the holiday season: change in routine, being with family, and maintaining recovery. I go into more detail below about each of these challenges and some strategies to help cope with them.
The bottom line: Holidays are tough! Especially for people in recovery from an eating disorder. You are not alone in this struggle. Rely on your treatment team and your support system to ensure that your eating disorder doesn’t take control. You got this!
